I have attempted to write this blog several times but have been struggling to put into words the beauty of Croatia. I was there for 9 days and all the while kept saying "I won't be able to help people comprehend why everyone should experience Croatia". After visiting, it's easy to understand why Croatia has been ranked in the top 10 vacation destinations in the world. Forbes recently said Croatia is “Best Country to Visit in Europe in 2025,” and I completely agree. This small country has everything: Roman ruins, cities, a wide variety of geography features, stunning beaches and spectacular islands. Don't forget it's top- rated wine and food.

Let's start with the beautiful geography. Croatia has stunning natural beauty surrounding it and it's untouched by humans. The Plitvice Lakes National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage site. This 8,000 acre park includes 18 gorgeous lakes that are all connected by by cascading waterfalls. This photo includes most of our group. What a wonderful time experiencing this scenery together! Split has lakes, mountains and lush greenery everywhere you look perfect for hiking and biking.

History can be viewed from the WWII tunnels in Zagreb with the cathedrals and parliment buildings in the old town, to the restored Staro Selo which is a well preserved small farming village. Split is where you will find the Diocletian's Palace, also a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site. The Palace dates back to the late 3rd century A.D. and is a wonderful way to view the Roman Ruins. Dubrovnik is a medieval city surrounded by walls from the 13th century. You can walk the walls in about an hour and what a spectacular view!

Dubrovnik is still a working city with people living,
working and kids going to school within these walls. Shops, cafe's, artwork and the bell tower can be seen and heard as you roam around the old city.
And don't forget the Adriatic Sea; it's the most spectacular shade of turquoise. While in Split, you can take a ferry or boat taxi to many of the islands off the coast of Split. We took a short but fast catamaran from Split to the island of Hvar. Such a lovely island, small and quaint but with history, shops and fabulous seafood restaurants. Dubrovnik has stunning beaches with rocks and cliffs to dive off of. Cafe's and shops can be found everywhere you look..

Croatia was one of the top places that I have every experienced. My strongest advice is don't miss any part of this country, take it all in and you will fall in love with Croatia.
